Boccia Exercise at The Centre

Exercise for people with MS can be extremely important in keeping fit and mobile. Taking part in group exercise can also be a fun way to get active with friends. We run several activities throughout the week at the centre all of which are free.

YogaOur seated chair exercise class 'Sit, Stretch and Flex' is a fun way to start your week. Our instructor Rama leads the group through a series of gentle stretches and light weight work to combat weaknesses and maintain and grow muscle.

The future of our popular chair exercise session Sit, Stretch and Flex has received an extra boost this month with the news we will be receiving funding from the Mayor London's FreeSport fund. The fund helps projects in London engage people in exercise that may otherwise find it difficult. The class is a good way to exercise with others and promises a fun work-out for all abilities. Sue, a regular attendee said, 'The class is great fun and the instructor is really helpful. Its a great group and we really spur each other on!' Why not give it a try?

We also run Boccia (pronounced Boch-ya) on a Tuesday morning at 11am. This is a seated team boules-like game which can be played by anyone. To see what Boccia lookslike take a look at this video. This activity is funded by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

We also run a weekly Yoga session on a Friday at 2pm. This is lead by our fully qualified volunteer Sam. Sam engages those in the class in gentle stretches and breathing techniques, not only aimed atimproving flexibility but also helping relaxation methods.
